About Us

Purim African Youth Development Platform

Purim African Youth Development Platform (PAYDP – Ghana), was registered in 2007 as an organisation limited by guarantee (NGO) to  advance the rights of young girls and women; through capacity building and expanded social and economic opportunities, with emphasis on vulnerable populations. Cross section of the key Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and other thematic partners; spanning the public, private-for-profit, and private-not-for-profit sectors. PAYDP has a board that provides overall leadership and direction and is actively involved in the making of key strategic decisions, as well as in demanding accountability from managers and responding to key organisational challenges.

Adolescent girls deserve to be healthy, happy, safe, and to have the opportunity to fulfil their personal and social goals. When given the proper tools, support, and platforms, and when listened to as experts on their own needs and experiences, girls will demonstrate their brilliance and power to shape their lives and that of their households and communities. Inspite of the potential of girls in every part of the world, they remain one of the most marginalised and vulnerable populations. Adolescent girls are diverse, with varying experiences, skills, and identities that intersect and affect the resources and opportunities that they are able to access.

PAYDP uses a multi-dimensional approach to reach out to girls, including physical, emotional, civil, and social dimensions that combine and affect an individual’s experiences and actions. Ensuring adolescent girls’ wellbeing and improving their lives in measurable and sustainable ways requires more than broad cross-sector commitment and integrated approaches. PAYDP’s approach illustrates entry points for holistic, multi-sectoral initiatives that can help girls achieve wellbeing. This resource is outcome-focused; multiple experts from the adolescent girl field identified their optimal outcomes as related to girls’ education, health, economic empowerment, hygiene, experience of gender-based violence, emergency, or humanitarian settings. We illustrate connections across sectors that make the case that the holistic needs of girls must be taken into consideration regardless of in which sector the program or policy originates.

Since its existence PAYDP and has led various project in different parts of the country especially in relation to girls in the area of Reproductive health, education, entrepreneurship among others. PAYDP has co-ordinators in the three Northern regions of Ghana, Ashanti region, Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra regions.
